Metro Plaza Hotel

The hotel is very well located for acces to Union Station. The room was large, clean, well lit, and the bed comfortable. All facilities were available. The reception was very helpful allowing me to check in early and on departure leave my bags for collection later. Having stayed there previously I was familiar with the hotel and it has maintained its standard. Chinese restaurants close by.

The price and location to the train station is why I picked Metro. It has the potential to be better once their construction phase is over. Room we stayed in had recently been upgraded.

At first sight it seems a little run down but actually this place is good value. Friendly , diverse and genuine staff recruited from the local area,, clean spacious rooms , location only a short walk from Union Station, good quiet air conditioning in the room AND surprisingly quiet at night - all good honest to God value and yes, we would stay there again .And guess what, we didn't find the dreaded Downtown L.A. to be anything like as bad as the hype says it is. Oh and the no. 4 bus from under the nearby bridge takes you almost all the way to Hollywood Boulevard for about $2.

Walking distance to Union Station train station in Los Angeles. Even though it is an older hotel - it was very clean, staff was wonderful, and we felt safe and comfortable. Also walking distance to Chinatown. They appear to be starting a remodel but it didn’t impact us…

We didn't know how to turn on the air conditioning: the maintenance man was excellent. He also opened the safe which the last tenant had left locked. The people at the front desk were efficient and helpful, also the people in the parking garage under the hotel. The location is great, a few yards from Olvera Street, Philippe's restaurant and Chinatown. It's also great to have on-site parking with in and out privileges.
